The participants of the FEPS ‘Ones to Watch’ initiative travelled to Bratislava, whereupon the invitation of Proforum and FES Slovakia and the Czech Republic they attended a two-day seminar. The meeting was the 5th event in the 2nd cycle and gathered over 50 promising progressive politicians from 11 countries of Central and Eastern Europe.

It offered an opportunity to discuss the political and socio-economic situation in the region and the implications that the ongoing war in Ukraine has had on the process of European Integration. Special attention was paid to the question of democracy and rule of law, whereby next to the exchanges of views during the panels, there were also field visits to the National Council and Museum of Holocaust in Sered.

Among many honourable speakers, representatives of the world of politics, academia and trade unions, there was also a keynote by Maroš Šefčovič, Vice-President of the European Commission, from László Andor, FEPS Secretary General and from Brigita Schmögnderová, President of ProForum. The event finished with a tribute paid to Aleksander Dubcek.
